The annual International Convention, Trade Show & Investors Exchange, PDAC-2018, was held on March 4-7, 2018 in Toronto (Canada). A.I. Chernykh, First Deputy Director, represented TsNIGRI in the Russian delegation.
PDAC-2018 program included:
- exhibition of equipment, instrumentation, technologies and posters by companies specializing in precious and base metal prospecting, exploration and mining;
- presentations as part of various thematic sections;
- numerous special events, meetings and presentations;
- student program;
- seminars and learning courses, etc.
The trade show was displayed in two pavilions. The first pavilion provided space for posters by junior and major mining companies involved in gold, silver, copper, lead and zinc prospecting, exploration and mining; results of completed and ongoing prospecting were also presented. The second pavilion hosted posters by various national geological surveys and companies involved in prospecting instrumentation, technology and equipment production.
Presentations were made as part of the conference technical program comprising diverse thematic sections. 15 sections were held in parallel within several rooms. Most presentations were made as part sections with a focus on geology and metallic minerals of Africa, China, USA, Canada and other countries. Specialized geological and economic presentations were made and discussed at “Mineral commodities and markets overview” and “Changes in economic fundamentals and their impact on common and critical metals” sections.
As part of PDAC-2018, Rosnedra delegation participated in Canada, Eurasia and Russia business association (CERBA) session. This event featured presentations by subsurface management authority executives from Russia, Mongolia and Kazakhstan as well as by mining companies operating in Russia and Kazakhstan.
